ABOUT CASSIE

Cassie Haynes is a strategist, leader, and institution builder, along with being co-founder of Resolve Philly, where she spent five years building one of the most respected collaborative journalism organizations in the country. At Resolve, she led internal operations, shaped organizational structure and culture, and, alongside her Co-Executive Director, raised over $10M to support community-driven reporting and systems-level media innovation. Her leadership there bridged the gap between editorial vision and operational execution, laying the foundation for her current work.

Today, Cassie serves as Executive Director of the Independence Hall Association, the Philadelphia-based nonprofit behind USHistory.org, one of the most visited civic education resources in the country, with more than 600,000 unique visitors each month. She is leading a significant repositioning of the organization, building toward a national civic education institution that combines a rebuilt digital platform with immersive, experiential programming anchored in Philadelphia and the founding era. Her work at IHA sits at the intersection of public history, narrative strategy, and the question of who gets to see themselves in the American story.

Alongside her work at IHA, Cassie serves as President of Plot Twist Consulting, advising philanthropic institutions, collaboratives, movements, and mission-driven organizations on capital strategies, ecosystem mapping, and governance frameworks. Her consulting practice centers on helping organizations move money and build durable, practical, and values-aligned infrastructure.

A multipotentialite, Cassie draws on a broad-ranging background in public health, law, and the arts. She is also a Knight-Wallace Journalism Fellow alumna, a seminary student, Treasurer of City Bureau's Board of Directors, and a Trustee on the Ann Arbor District Library Board. And because strength, agility, and perseverance show up in many forms, she is also a Boston Marathoner, record-breaking powerlifter, and Brazilian jiu-jitsu practitioner.
